Respect
Yesterday you heard on the news that the Government were launching their new initiative 'Respect'. I found this good report on the BBC news website, which reports what some young people from London think of the intiative and Charles Clarke. I think there is potential here to talk to the young people in our own youth groups about Respect and how it can influence our own communities...what do you guys think?

ok, so the government have identified that respect, or the lack thereof, is an issue within society. im inclined to agree.
but you can't make people respect one another. you can't just click your fingers and the policy will make it all right. as long as people are told, by the way in which the country is run, that number one is the most important, and screw anybody else, then respect is gonna remain absent from society.
if you want people to respect one another within their local communities, you have to make this issue of respect a theme which runs through all policies, not just home affairs. its got to be evident in education, health, foreign policy, AND economic policies.
is what i think, in my humble opinion
