Spirituality & Youthwork
Ok I'm new here and not sure of the "rules" for posting - but thought I'd stick something on here!
Young People Now magazine this week carries an article on spirituality and youthwork. It includes a "featurette" on the Hub at church.co.uk centre in Waterloo, which is positive.
Bishop Roger Sainsbury is quoted as saying: "Spirituality is a journey of discovery and youth workers need to encourage young people on this journey, rather than preach at them with set answers".
So the 2 questions in my mind are: "should our approach with adults be any different"? And "when is it OK to preach and give answers"?

When people ask questions?
Can it be that simple?
Getting people to the point when they ASK - now that's sometimes the challenge.

I think it's important that we answer questions that haven't been asked too. Although our Young People are searching and questioning, it's important for us to answer some of the questions that they're not even asking.

Nope. We need to engage and encourage adults too. The age shouldn't matter - but it's important that we adapt our approach according to "where they are" on their journey and in their questioning.
Some great questions though...
